Recap - Massan Week 10, Ep 58

Massan

Week 10: "It is darkest under the lamp post"

Episode 58 (12/4/2014)
Today's episode focuses on Ellie and Massan's relationship. They spend an entire day together as they visit Yamazaki and Ellie finally gets the chance to tell Massan what she really wants for her present.

RECAP:
Ellie tries to get Massan up out of bed to go for a walk before work. She wants to talk to him. Massan tells her that he doesn't need to go to work today. He has to go to Yamazaki to check for land to build the distillery. Ellie suggests that they go together then and starts making bento lunches for them and prepares to go.

Massan starts to complain though and says it is pointless to go to Yamazaki. Ellie tells him that he can make great whisky no matter where he is. Ellie then begins to explain what she learned from Shinchan about Japanese houses and how they are built to match each type of land depending on where they are. She says it is like whisky and that Massan can do whatever it takes to make whisky according to the area he is in, even in Yamazaki.

Mr. Kamoi is in his secret warehouse working on the small building model Massan made for the distillery and looks satisfied with the design he has created.

Massan and Ellie arrive in Yamazaki are walking along a path in a mountain forest area. There is a nice breeze, the trees are swaying, birds chirping, and a river flowing with clear water. Massan washes his face in the chilly waters of the river and then they both try to drink the water. The find that the water here is very good quality but Massan is still negative, saying that the water quality isn't enough to make good whisky.  Ellie then splashes him with water and the two laugh as they get into a little water fight in the river.

Once they settle down, Ellie mentions that she is happy to see him smiling again. He was always smiling when he was in Scotland. His smile always gave her strength during hard times. Massan tells her that it is the other way around though. It is because of her smile that he is able to get through the hard times they face in Japan. Ellie is surprised to hear that and smiles.

Ellie then brings up her present again. She tells Massan that he still hasn't heard her answer yet. She says she only wants one thing, something not for sale, and something only they can make. She finally tells him, "baby." She wants a baby, his baby. He says that he too wants a baby and as they both confirm that they want a baby, the two lovebirds become so happy and Ellie thanks him.

Massan then suggests that they go a little further along the path. Once they get to the end the come to a beautiful misty location.
