Massan is still struggling with deciding a place for the future whisky distillery and Ellie begins to make plans with Umeko's husband to renovate their home.
RECAP:
Massan returns home from work in low spirits as he thinks about what to do about the location of their future distillery. Ellie tries to talk to him about her present but he is too occupied with his own troubles. Ellie gets frustrated with Massan and he asks her if she really wants to go to Hokkaido. She says she does and asks him if it looks like they will be moving any time soon. Massan replies that it won't be in the near future so Ellie tries to tell him about her renovation plans, but of course Massan doesn't listen. When she tells him that she is going to renovate the house, he just tells her to do whatever she wants. She is tired of waiting for him to listen so she just decides to go through with the plans then.
The next day, Massan searches for a new nearby location for the distillery and shares his results at the meeting. He says that there are no other locations that are as suitable as Hokkaido. Mr. Kamoi asks him where he went and Massan shows him a map of all the locations. Mr. Kamoi then quickly decides to put the distillery in Yamazaki.
Everyone at the meeting agrees that Yamazaki would be a good place because it carries a good history but Massan argues that history has nothing to do with whisky making. They need to be able to find peat and Hokkaido would be best for that. Mr. Shirai, however, also points out the expensive transportation costs of going to Hokkaido and says that they can just use imported peat. Massan says that using imported peat is fine but you have to be sure that the dirt, water, and air of the area the peat came from is of good quality and asks to go to Hokkaido.
Meanwhile, Ellie is at Kohinobori with her friends and talking to to Shinchan about the renovation plans. Shinchan is not too sure about this kind of large renovation because he worries how it will handle Japan's high temperatures and high humidity.
After the meeting with everyone at Kamoi Shop, Amano and Shirai talk to Massan about his wanting to go to Hokkaido. They try to convince him to stop pushing it so hard as there are enough risks involved as it is with making whisky. Mr. Kurosawa jumps in to cool down the conversation and Amano and Shirai back down but tell Massan to think well about it.
Ellie is at home thinking about the different changes that will be made around the house and she notices the time and the fact that Massan is late coming home.
Massan is at Kohinobori drinking as he complains about work. Finally Aki tells him that Ellie is waiting at home for him and tells him he should go home. Once he gets home he tries to apologize but Ellie is still angry with him. He lays down as he mumbles about his work problems and ends up falling asleep.
The next morning Ellie goes out to see her neighbor friends and Umeko apologizes for her husband (I think for being hesitant to do her renovations). They ask her if she has decided what to do and Ellie just tells them that she hasn't decided yet and asks if Shinchan has left for work yet.
