RECAP:
Massan mulls over Mr. Nonomura's offer of a teaching position at Sumiyoshi Gakuin. He is peeling potatoes at Kohinobori as he talks it over with Haru and Aki. It's a pretty good opportunity but Aki brings up the fact that Ellie went through so much trouble to set up the special meeting with Mr. Kamoi. Haru, however, feels that its fine if he doesn't make amends with Mr. Kamoi. With such a high paying position as a teacher, what is there to think about.
Ellie is talking to her neighbor friends about Massan's job offer. Momoko and Umeko both say that Massan should take the job but Ellie says she doesn't want Massan to waste his education in Scotland. She still believes in Massan.
At Kamoi Shop, Mr. Yamanouchi tells Mr. Kamoi that he has found a Japanese man who has been to Europe several times and would be an asset to the company. He doesn't know the details but he knows that the man had been in Scotland for the past two years studying how to make whisky. Mr. Yamanouchi says that he is well known in the industry and when he tries to say his name he says "Kame..." Mr. Kamoi finishes for him "Kameyama Masaharu..." Mr. Yamanouchi asks him if he knows of the man and that if he works with that man, he can definitely make whisky in Japan.
Massan comes home to Ellie singing and tells her that he has made a decision about the job offer. Ellie is excited and asks if he will be going back to Mr. Kamoi but Massan says that he will take the teaching job at Sumiyoshi Gakuin. Disappointed, Ellie asks him why, what about making whisky? Massan explains that they will be able to live easier with this job and they can save a little money each month so that he can someday start his own distillery. Ellie asks him how long that will take and says that he will probably die before it can happen. Massan cannot believe that she is not supporting his decision and tries to leave the room. As Ellie chases after him and yells at him, Mr. Kamoi shows up at their entrance and puts something on the table and tells Ellie to open it. It's filled with money. He explains that it was money he set aside for a professional from Scotland. It's one year's worth of payment for Massan to come work for him. Massan asks why he is doing this all the sudden and Mr. Kamoi tells him that his goldfish told him to. :P He then tells both of them to come with him.
Mr. Kamoi takes them to his secret warehouse where he keeps many valuable books and items he has collected over the years. Massan asks him about a big barrel in the room and he says that it was alcohol that he couldn't use and had just left there. He recently opened it up an found that it had become high quality liquor that has been aged in the same manner as whisky. He also says that this is the same liquor that is used for "Whikky."
Mr. Kamoi tells Massan that when he tried this liquor two years ago, he realized that he wanted to make perfectly aged liquor. That was the origin of his motivation to make real whisky now.
