Massan
Week 18: "Distant yet so close is the relationship between man and woman"
Episode 105 (2/4/2015)
RECAP:
Hana asks Toshio what he thinks about her marriage proposal set up by her father, and Toshio tries to mention that all though it's good he is tall and a hard worker, Toshio can't see someone who doesn't drink as being a good partner for her. Hana then asks him what kind of man would be a good match for her but Toshio doesn't give her an answer and just tells her that it is for her to decide.
Massan tries Ellie's apple jelly/jello at home with Emma and Ellie brings up Toshio and Hana's issue again. He urges her not to get involved as it is something the two need to figure out on their own and so Ellie does her best to refrain from butting in but still worries about them.
Kumatora talks with Susumu at the barbershop about Hana's hesitation about the marriage and Susumu mentions that it's a really good proposal since the man comes from a pretty large apple orchard family.
Later, Kumatora asks Hana if she has made her decision yet and Hana asks her father what he thinks. He says that maybe it would be good if they met the man first.
Massan, Toshio, and Kazuma are in the research room testing their apple wine when Ellie stops by the research room to talk to Massan. She tells him that she really wants to talk to Kumatora but Massan urges her against it. However, Ellie has already made up her mind so that night, after putting Emma to bed, they invite Kumatora over to talk to him.
Toshio, Kazuma, and Hana are eating dinner when Kumatora suddenly bursts in and attacks Toshio for coming near his daughter. It appears that Kumatora took Ellie's explanation that they are in love for meaning that they are lovers (with a less innocent meaning). He finally calms down as everyone tries to explain his misunderstanding to him while Hana and Toshio declare that they are just two people who don't have any feelings for each other. Hana then tells Kumatora that she will go through with the marriage proposal.
Later, Ellie decides to try talking to Hana again and asks that Massan talk to Toshio. Massan finds Toshio in the research room and asks if he really wants Hana to go through with the marriage and Toshio just says that he is fine with being alone without a family. Hana then shows up and drags Toshio into the factory. As Ellie and Massan listen from outside, Hana confesses that she likes Toshio and asks him how he feels.
