Recap - Massan Week 18, Ep 104

Massan

Week 18: "Distant yet so close is the relationship between man and woman"

Episode 104 (2/3/2015)

RECAP:
Ellie goes to Massan to talk to him about Hana's marriage proposal but Massan says that it is up to Hana to decide. She then asks if Kumatora is happy about it and Massan responds that he isn't sure. She asks about Toshio next and Massan doesn't understand why she would ask about Toshio (obviously not making the connection that Toshio likes Hana). Ellie explains it to him but he still thinks that Ellie is overthinking it.

The next day, Massan and Kazuma get ready to go to Hakodate to try and repair the reputation of the apple juice in hopes that they can get some more customers. Ellie mentions that Toshio never came to eat breakfast so Massan and Kazuma go to check on him. They find Toshio heavily studying how to make wine from apples. He is thinking to turn all the returned apple juice into wine since it can't be sold anymore. Massan then asks him what made him suddenly think of all this. Toshio responds that he is man dedicated to his work. He thinks about work all day and has no interest in women or marriage. Kazuma wonders why he brought up women and marriage when they weren't even talking about that.

Toshio then runs into Hana outside but just walks right past her. Massan and Kazuma notice this and begin to think something is going on. They finally get ready to go when Ellie comes out asking if Toshio mentioned anything about Hana. Massan tells her what he said about not having any interest, but Ellie just laughs and tells him that it's a lie. She says that they both have feelings for each other and that Hana is probably just waiting for him to say something to her.

Back in the house, Ellie notices Hana staring off into space as she is cooking. She asks Hana about the proposed marriage but Hana doesn't have an answer. She asks if there is someone she likes and says that if there is then maybe she should decline the proposal. Toshio then comes to check in for the evening. Ellie tries to get him to come inside to eat some dinner but he says that he is too busy to eat right now. Ellie then asks that Hana take some food to the research room later to Toshio.

Meanwhile, Massan is talking with Toshio and asks if he has anyone he likes right now, but Toshio brushes it off reminding him of what he said earlier about not having any interest in women or marriage.

Just then Hana comes in with his dinner and Massan ducks out of the office, leaving the two alone. After Hana sets down his tray of food, she asks him what he is working on and there is a moment of silence after he finishes his explanation. She takes this time to ask him what he thinks about her proposed marriage.
