Episode 81 (1/7/2015)
RECAP:
Thanks to Ellie's hot toddy, Sanae's cough has calmed down a little and she appears to be getting a little bit better. Chikako takes this opportunity to convince her mother to finally accept Ellie as her daughter in law and have a wedding celebration but Sanae is still stubborn.
In Hokkaido, carrying his heavy crate on his back, Massan is heading to Yoichi by foot with Kumatora.
In Hiroshima, Ellie sits down with Sanae and Sanae explains that when she first met Ellie she thought she was a witch with her white skin and golden hair. Ellie also confesses that when she first met Sanae, she thought she was the devil and Sanae laughs saying that she has gone too far with that statement. Ellie then continues that that she realizes now that Sanae is not the devil at all. She is just a mother who loves her son very much. She tells Sanae that she will continue to do her best to be a good wife to Massan and Sanae looks to be finally accepting her.
Sanae remarks that the world is so big and that it's really something that Ellie came all this way by ship taking two months. Ellie says that you can go anywhere if you set your heart on it and teaches Sanae some easy English so that she could get by if she ever left Japan. Sanae is still amazed at Ellie's strong will and bravery of coming to Japan and Ellie tells her that as long as she has Massan by her side, she is okay.
Massan finally arrives at Kumatora's home and is introduced to everyone, including Kumatora's daughter.
Meanwhile, Ellie calls Mr. Kamoi to find that he still has not been able to locate Massan.
At Kumatora's home, the sake has arrived and they all toast and begin their party while singing a local song.
