Week 5: "Behind every successful man there is a wise woman"

Episode 28 (10/30/2014)

Turns out Ellie has some pretty effective tricks up her sleeves and while the shareholders were all impressed by the end of the meeting, we still have yet to find out their official decision.

RECAP:

After the shareholders tried the whisky and were shocked by its strong flavor, Ellie comes in and serves them traditional Scottish food. She explains the items on the plate, which have been prepared using whisky, and tells them to sip their whisky while eating the food. The shareholders are pleasantly surprised by how delicious the whisky is now. 

However, they mentioned that it is not possible to eat Western-style food all the time, but Ellie has another trick up her sleeve. As she had anticipated this, Yoshiko then comes in with plates of Japanese food cooked in a similar way using the whisky, thanks to Yuko. 

The shareholders are quite satisfied with this Japanese version as well and so Massan continues his pitch about whisky and what it means to him and the people of Scotland. Massan gets on the ground to bow as low as he can to ask the shareholders for their support to make whisky. Mr. Tanaka and everyone else from Sumiyoshi (except Mr. Yaguchi who, of course, just stays seated) join Massan in bowing to ask for the shareholders approval. Mr. Fujioka (Yuko's future father-in-law) begins to clap in approval and the other shareholders follow suit.

That night, Massan, Ellie, Yuko, and Mr. Tanaka are all celebrating at Koinobori (the local restaurant). Mr. Tanaka is so moved by Ellie and Yuko's contribution today that he declares that he will treat "everyone" tonight but it somehow turns into a big fight with the owner of the restaurant and Ellie is the one to finally break everyone up. She decides to sing a song to calm everyone down. 

Once Massan and Ellie are in bed that night, Massan wakes Ellie up to ask her if everything is really going to be okay. He feels uneasy about today but Ellie assures him that everything will be fine. Massan then tells Ellie that he is really happy to be married with her and Ellie responds that she is happy too and tells him that his dream is her dream and she will make sure that he can achieve it. 

A few days later, Chogoro and Fujioka visit the Tanaka household to give their official answer about whether or not they will support the making of whisky at Sumiyoshi Distillery.
