Recap - Massan Week 5, Ep 26

Massan

Week 5: "Behind every successful man there is a wise woman"

Episode 26 (10/28/2014)
Taiyo Wine production has been started again. As for making whisky, Massan and Sumiyoshi experience obstacle after obstacle and just as Massan is about to give up, Ellie brings him right back up, but can they convince their biggest shareholder to support their plans to make whisky?

RECAP:
Massan returns to Sumiyoshi after visiting Sado Factory to ask why his pot still plans were returned. He immediately asks Mr. Yaguchi why he said that the plans to make whisky have been stopped. Mr. Yaguchi tells him to stop talking about his dreams all the time and to start thinking about the company and what it needs.

Mr. Tanaka returns and says that he told Yoshiko to have everyone come back to work to restart production of Taiyo Wine. He had gone to visit Mr. Kamoi who told him that he still would like Sumiyoshi to continue producing Taiyo Wine for him. Mr. Kamoi had also shown him the new poster for Taiyo Wine which Mr. Tanaka approved of and admired Mr. Kamoi for his good business sense. As Mr. Tanaka bows, Mr. Kamoi asks him if it isn't hard for him to bow his head to the person who tried to take away one of his employees. Mr. Tanaka admits that it is difficult. However, he still wants to make whisky before Mr. Kamoi does so he will lower his head however low, or do whatever it takes to make that happen. Mr. Kamoi can seen his determination and laughs out loud telling him that he will leave the production of Taiyo Wine to Sumiyoshi.

That night, Massan excitedly tells Ellie that they will restart production of Taiyo Wine but Ellie just shrugs it off. He notices her indifference and asks if she is still mad at him, asking her to just forgive him already. After he walks away though, we see that Ellie is actually happy about it but as long as they are not restarting their plans to make whisky, she cannot feel at ease yet.

Massan and Mr. Tanaka go out to visit each shareholder. They visit one shareholder that owns a fabric shop and try to explain their whisky plans to him. He tells them that if Chogoro (Yuko's grandfather), who is the largest shareholder, doesn't approve of it, then he cannot approve of it either. They continue to go around asking shareholders to hold the shareholder's meeting but everyone gives the same answer, as long as Chogoro is against it, they are as well. They even visit Namihana Bank to ask for funding from Mr. Sasazuka but he couldn't help them either.

After work, Massan goes to the local restaurant, Kohinobori (this was the place that recommended the house to Massan and Ellie), and begins to drink until he has passed out. Ellie comes to take him home and once they get there, Massan starts to talk about how he can't make whisky and starts to feel sorry for himself but Ellie gets upset and tells him that everyone around him is working just as hard to support him, not just him. He finally comes around and sees that she is right.

The next day, Chogoro has asked the fabrics shop owner to the Tanaka household and has Yuko pick out items for her wedding ceremony. Mr. Tanaka decides to bring up the shareholders meeting again but Chorogo responds that that conversation is over. Just then, Massan comes in with Ellie, and together with Mr. Tanaka and even Yuko, they ask Chogoro to allow them to make whisky.
