Recap - Massan Week 3, Ep 18

Massan

Week 3: "Home is where you make it"

Episode 18 (10/18/2014)
Massan and Ellie have had a pretty big fight today after Massan sees Ellie hugging Mr. Kamoi. Can they fix things? Or will Ellie decide to go back to Scotland? I think we all know the answer to those questions! ;)

RECAP:
Massan is upset after seeing Ellie hugging Mr. Kamoi goodbye and Ellie can't understand why. He asks her why she went to see Mr. Kamoi anyway and she replies that she is always alone, Massan is gone all day from morning until late at night and has no time for his private life. She wants to spend more time with him and be able to talk to him more. She asks him which is more important, whisky or her, to which he does not answer. This upsets her even more and she tells him that no matter how much her family in Scotland were busy, they would always make time for family. Massan tells her to just go back to Scotland then and this leaves Ellie furious and speechless.

At this point the neighbors can hear their argument and one man comes to the house to complain. This throws Massan over the edge and he takes his frustration out on the man. As the two are fighting, Catherine shows up and is able to break them up. Massan runs off to his research lab and Ellie stays to talk with Catherine about whether or not she should leave Massan.

At the Tanaka household, Massan is talking with Mr. Tanaka about his fight with Ellie when Yuko comes in and mentions that Ellie has gone through a lot to come to Japan to be with Massan and it is natural for her to be lonely after leaving her family. This brings Massan to his senses as he realizes that Yuko is right, he should be more sensitive to Ellie's feelings.

He rushes back home only to find that Ellie is gone. He runs out in search of her and finally hears music coming from the church. He goes inside the church and finds Ellie there singing "Home, Sweet Home" in English. He tells her that he is sorry, that he was wrong and he would like to try the delicious rice she made. Once she finishes her song (as she continued playing while Massan was apologizing), she smiles and asks Massan to teach her the Japanese version of the song.

The next morning, Massan and Ellie are eating breakfast and when Massan goes to try the rice, he find a small stone in his rice. When Ellie tries her rice, she also finds a stone in hers and they both smile at each other and laugh.
