Week 4: "Every Jack has his Jill"

Episode 21 (10/22/2014)

Ellie does her best to not get involved in Yuko's arranged marriage predicament but can't stand it any longer and finally says something. Meanwhile, Massan is still spending a lot of time with Mr. Kamoi to try to save his business.

RECAP:

Massan and Mr. Kamoi visit a customer of Taiyo Wine to apologize and ask him to continue doing business with them but the company has already suffered a huge loss due to the wine and refuses to do business with them again. They continue to go door to door to ask different locations to return to doing business with them but everyone declines. On their way back, Massan talks with the boy who drove them today and the boy mentions that once he graduates from university, he will start working at Kamoi Shop.

That night, Ellie talks with Massan about Yuko’s predicament again but Massan warns her that she mustn’t say anything, as it is not her business.

The next day, Ellie is at the Tanaka household again helping out but is distracted when Yuko explains the day’s menu. Yuko’s parents then return home with Yuko’s grandfather (from her mother’s side). Her grandfather is the one that introduced her family to her potential partner and he is here today to ask her how she feels about it. Ellie does her best to keep quiet but can't take it anymore and finally speaks up for Yuko. She asks Yuko if she really wants to marry and Yuko just remains silent. Ellie tells everyone about Yuko really wanting to become a typist. This upsets Yuko's mother and she asks that Ellie leave, but Yuko tells her mother that Ellie has done nothing wrong and leaves the room instead. 

Later, Ellie is finishing up the food preparation when Yuko comes in. She tells Ellie that her father has declined the marriage proposal but she blames herself for being so selfish. Ellie disagrees and tells her that it's best she not marry if she doesn't really want to. Yuko tell's Ellie that she is really glad she met her. Ellie replies that she is also thankful to meet Yuko and asks Yuko if they can be good friends from now on. 

Soon after, Yoshiko comes in along with the other workers to eat lunch and Mr. Yaguchi says some mean things to Ellie for not knowing where Massan is. 

Meanwhile, Massan is with Mr. Kamoi again at his shop. Mr. Kamoi is trying to do fortune telling with his goldfish when he suddenly decides to have a meeting with everyone.
