Massan
Week 3: "Home is where you make it"
Episode 13 (10/13/2014)
We start the new week with Massan and Ellie looking for a place of their own to rent. During their search they meet an interesting woman with such a funny personality. Also, once they finally find a home to rent, they have an unexpected visitor at their door.
RECAP:
Massan and Ellie are searching all over for a new home but face some trouble finding a place that will accept Ellie. They stop somewhere to eat lunch and as they both mention how delicious the rice is, Ellie tells Massan that she wants to learn how to make rice. They are then interrupted when the master of the restaurant comes out yelling at them in Hiroshima dialect thinking they are runaways with all of their luggage on the big cart outside. They explain that they are just currently looking for a place to move and the girl working at the restaurant introduces them to a place.
Some kids show them to the house and as they are trying to see inside, a woman sees them from behind and yells at them that she will call the police. Once she sees Ellie, though, she suddenly becomes very interested in her and starts talking to her in English. She is very sweet to Ellie but short tempered with Massan. As the woman shows them around the house, they decide they like it and she helps them move their things into the rooms only to find out later that she actually does not have any relation to this house.
Finally, they meet with the person who manages the house and as they are going over the contract, they find out that the previous woman's name is "Taneko."
The next morning, Ellie is trying to make rice and refers to her notes as she follows each step but still ends up making soupy rice porridge instead of regular rice. Later, she sees Massan off to work for the day and begins hanging the laundry when she hears someone at the front door. She goes to check on who it is and of all people, she finds Yuko there.
