Week 11: "There is no treasure more precious than a child"

That evening Ellie is working in the kitchen and Eichiro sees her and sees a resemblance to his own mother when she was alive. He begins to help Ellie out in the kitchen when Catherine comes yelling into the kitchen that everyone needs to hurry to Kohinobori right away but doesn't say what the problem is.
Massan tries to get Eichiro to have some interest in the work at the distillery but Eichiro just wants to take the afternoon off. When he arrives home, him and Ellie talk for a bit and Ellie finds out that his mother passed away 10 years ago.
That evening Ellie is working in the kitchen and Eichiro sees her and sees a resemblance to his own mother when she was alive. He begins to help Ellie out in the kitchen when Catherine comes yelling into the kitchen that everyone needs to hurry to Kohinobori right away but doesn't say what the problem is.
Once they arrive at Kohinobori, they find that everyone has put together a surprise party for Ellie and Massan to celebrate her becoming pregnant, since they figured it out after she became sick the other morning. Everyone starts showering Ellie with gifts and Massan explains the saying "ko wa kasugai" (children are the bond between parents). Eichiro tries to leave at this point but Catherine hold him back and asks that he stays a little longer. The local police officer then asks Massan and Ellie about the future name for the baby and asks what nationality the baby will be, leaving Massan and Ellie at a loss for words.
Catherine tries to party atmosphere back up but then Eichiro has something to say. He tells them that their child will face all kinds of discrimination just from his appearance. Even Ellie can't deny that she has gone through the same discrimination. Ellie responds saying that he is absolutely right, but she and Massan have talk a lot and come to terms with it. She also tells Eichiro that he is really admirable. There are many people who cannot voice their opinions so clearly to others and the fact that he can do so is quite admirable and she thanks him for his sincere concern about their baby.
Everyone pitches in that they will help make sure no one tries to pick on Massan and Ellie's child and Eichiro begins to cry. Ellie hugs him as he cries.
