Massan
Week 11: "There is no treasure more precious than a child"
Episode 64 (12/11/2014)
RECAP:
Back at Kamoi shop, Mr. Kurosawa is talking with Mr. Kamoi about how he should talk to his son about his mother's passing away but Mr. Kamoi still feels that Eichiro is not ready to listen to him.
Ellie and Eichiro are still talking and Eichiro asks Ellie what she likes about his father. She says that he once said the same thing that her father said when he was alive, that life is an adventure. She asks if he has ever told Eichiro the same thing but Eichiro said that he has never heard it before. In fact, his father is so busy that he can't even remember the last time they have eaten a meal together. He tells Ellie that his father is a heartless man and that when Taiyo Wine was released, his mother became ill and had to go to the hospital but his father rarely ever went to visit her.
Massan returns home in high spirits and asks Eichiro to help him with something. As they are working Massan talks to Eichiro about his lack of ambition and his relationship with his father. Ellie brings them some tea just as they are about to finish their project, which is a cradle for the baby. Ellie thanks them for the wonderful gift and Eichiro comes up to Ellie to tell her that he was wrong about Massan, he's actually a romantic as well as being frank and friendly.
Mr. Kamoi then shows up to congratulate Ellie and Massan. Eichiro tries to quietly go upstairs but Mr. Kamoi stops him and says that he has something he would like to talk to him about. However, before talking with Eichiro, Mr. Kamoi continues his chat with Massan and Ellie but Eichiro interrupts his father and asks what he wants to talk about. Mr. Kamoi snaps back at him and tells him to wait and they start to argue.
The next day after Massan and Ellie's celebration at Kohinobori, Eichiro is helping Ellie wash dishes and apologizes for his behavior at the party last night. Ellie asks him why he was crying and Eichiro answers that it was because of everything, he was moved by the kindness of everyone in the neighborhood and their caring for Ellie's future child. He says that Ellie is truly amazing with her strength and kindness.
