Massan
Week 14: "There is kindness to be found everywhere"
Episode 79 (1/5/2015)
Happy new year everyone! I will be going back to daily recaps from now on! If you find that you prefer weekly recaps over daily ones let me know. If I get enough feedback for either way, I may change permanently. Thanks!
RECAP:
Massan has been transfered to sales for their whisky while Eichiro is in charge of its production. Massan's challenge now is to promote their whisky and find people who will buy it. He is at Kohinobori talking with everyone about where to go and they tease him about not even having a fake smile to help his sales pitch.
Once he returns home, he talks with Ellie about his transfer and she also agrees with him that sales isn't really his forte. She even laughs at him when he test out his fake smile for her. He tells her that he is going to a place that is very similar to Scotland, all the way to Hokkaido.
The next day Massan heads off to Hokkaido with the hopes that with Hokkaido's similarity to Scotland, maybe the people will be able to appreciate whisky as well. He carries the whisky in a wooden crate strapped to his back with a sign/flag that reads "Kamoi Whisky." His first stop is Otaru in the Western part of Hokkaido, northwest of Sapporo.
A few days later, Ellie is chatting with her friends in her home when a telegram arrives from Sumire in Hiroshima which says that Massan's mother has fallen ill and to return home immediately. Ellie rushes to inform Mr. Kamoi of the news so that he can pass it on to Massan but Mr. Kamoi is unable to locate Massan so Ellie heads for Hiroshima on her own.
